We do not seek perfection. The bowl that leans, the rim that wavers, the glaze that pools unbidden — these are not faults to be corrected but evidence of a hand, a fire, a moment that will never recur.
Wabi-sabi asks us to attend. To notice the iron speckle, the ash bloom, the small absences. Mono no aware — the gentle sadness of things — lives in the cooling of the kiln, in the long pause before the bowl is touched.
When a vessel breaks, we mend it in gold. The crack becomes biography. The repair becomes the most beautiful part.
Throw your own chawan beside us. A six-hour passage from raw clay to greenware, with tea served between firings. Wheels limited to four per session.
