The Verdant Prize is open to writers of any nationality, writing in English, who have not yet published a full-length novel with a mainstream publisher. We accept debut and near-debut manuscripts across all literary fiction genres.
Submissions must be between 50,000 and 120,000 words and submitted as a single PDF. Include a one-page synopsis and a brief author biography.
The prize is awarded to a single winner, who receives £25,000 and a year-long mentorship with a leading literary agent. All shortlisted authors receive professional editorial feedback and publication consideration from our partner presses.
